Prof. P. Reddanna
Scientific Advisor
Prof P. Reddanna, Senior Professor (Retd.) from the School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, works in the area of inflammation and cancer, specifically in the drug discovery programs. He has undertaken translational projects for leading Pharma and Biotech companies such as Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Dabur, Natco Pharma etc in addition to support from various government funding agencies. He has guided over 40 students for Ph.D and published more than 150 papers in peer reviewed journals. He worked at Penn State University, Johns Hopkins University and Freie University as vising faculty.
He was the recipient of “The Rockefeller Foundation Biotechnology Career Award” , availed at Penn State University. He was the recipient of “Best Research Project Award -2007” by Royan International Foundation. Recognizing his contributions to the industry, Chemtech Foundation has awarded the “Pharmabio Excellency Award” in 2005 and “Outstanding Scientist for the Benefit of Industry” in 2007 by Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI).
He was the founder Director of National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India (2010-2014). He served as the Dean of School of Life Sciences (Jan, 2015 to Jan, 2018). He has recently established state-of-the-art BioNEST incubation center for start-up companies within the School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad.
Currently he serves as the Executive President of the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA), a non-profit organisation promoting academy and industry interactions and also helping the students in career guidance and skill development activities.
